The relationship between businesses and community partnerships with our area schools is very important, and there is a great need for that relationship to grow through volunteerism within the schools. Volunteers enrich a child's educational experience and provide extended learning opportunities.
By becoming a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to better prepare our students to enter our local workforce with the skills they will need to become productive employees. Through your volunteer effort, you will not only strengthen your future workforce, but the business community as a whole.
In order to better facilitate the resources available within the community, the Northern Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce Education Committee is establishing a Business Volunteer Bureau to "help teachers teach." This bureau will develop a database that provides information to area schools about who is available to volunteer. It will also provide specific information about the areas of interest and time availability of each volunteer.
High School Clusters
The NAACCC Education Committee assists in connecting it’s members and other Northern Anne Arundel County businesses to their five high school clusters:
- Chesapeake High School
- Glen Burnie High School
- Northeast High School
- North County High School
- Old Mill High School
- CAT North
Educational Excellence Awards
The NAACC Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual teacher of the year recognition banquet at the end of each school year supported by local businesses, organizations and churches. This program provides encouragement, appreciation and inspiration to those who serves our students at a grass roots level day in and day out in our local schools. The educator is selected by the school’s principal through a set of guidelines provided by the Educational Excellence Committee.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are a variety of ways in which local businesses can help students know about business and assist teachers in helping them prepare students for the work force. These volunteer opportunities help inform our students of the many way business provides skills and services to it’s community through very rewarding careers.
